Group Introduction, FNF Speaker, and Networking

Our first meetup! We'll start with an open networking session from 7:00p-7:30p.  Meet and exchange ideas, knowledge, and resources with other like-minded individuals interested in advancing IoT here in Austin.

From 7:30p-8:00p, Organizer Dave Brixius will give an introduction to the group, share his vision, and discuss the group's direction going forward. Member input during this segment will help determine the future of Austin IoT, and will be used to determine desired future meetup topics and activities.

Then at 8:00p, guest speaker Charles Wyble will present an informational session on the Free Network Foundation. The FNF's goal is to free people from the monopoly that incumbent internet service providers have on us. The FNF sees IoT as one of the biggest drivers of these new free networks.

Austin IoT is a sharing group. If you have a cool resource or project that you think others might be interested in, you are invited to share it with others in the group, if you like. If you would like to present at one of our future meetups, please contact us here or speak to us at one of our meetups.

The full Sherlock's food and drink menu will be available during our meetup, and we will have our own server. Personalized name badges will be created for all those who RSVP for this event.

Join us for a casual and informational evening of Austin IoT in the comfortable surroundings of Sherlock's Baker Street Pub.

See you there!

Sorry I'm not going to make the first meeting. I have to be in the bay area all next week. Would be great if someone could video the meeting and push it up to youtube.

Someone mentioned about noise and distractions at this venue. We will have the back room all to ourselves. It should be pretty quiet for our meetup.
