Location visible to members
Look for our pirate flag in the basin sailing around the Sometimes Islands, The Oasis, Marshall Ford Marina, Commander's Point Marina and Windy Point. Be sure to fly your A.S.S. flag if you have one. Prepare to lower your flag (or you will be fired upon - by Chocolate Pearl's long nine) around 5:00pm and be boarded by your fellow buccaneers and other seafaring folk. Raft-up to be by The Sometimes Islands (Windy Point side). Grills will be lit, food cooked, and grog (Rum, Margaritas, Wine, Brew, Chocolate Liquer, etc.) shared or seized. Bring at least an appetizer. This MIGHT be a late night and some may sleep out (every vessel should plan on dropping their own hook). Don't forget to have a 360 degree white anchor light available (authorities check for this often) and current reg. NO MOONLIGHT SAILING THIS TIME - hard to see the buoys marking low water.
Attention Crew: Those looking for crew slots should contact the individual captains who have space available. Plan on showing up to the appropriate port 15 minutes prior to weighing anchor. Those that have appropriate music (Ahoy Parrotheads) are encouraged to bring their CD's and / or musical instruments / voices. Anyone got any favourite Sea Chantys?
WEATHER ISSUES: If the wind is blowing over 25 knots or it is raining please contact your Captain as to his or her plans (Captains may touch base with me via email at: [masked] or at[masked]-SAIL (VoIP); I will not be able to check these after 9:00am on the day of the event). Sunday 10am -- Noon some of us may gather at Sandeez for breakfast (burger joint on 620 near Sail & Ski in Lakeway).
SUGGESTION - ON CARPOOLING / BOAT POOLING: A number of captains are apparently reluctant to commit their boats concerned about having to return to their port before they wish to (to accommodate a crew member's desire to leave early). If crew RSVP in groups of 2 or more, perhaps one person of that group would consider leaving their car at Commander's Point (balance at departing marina) then captains would only have to take someone as far as Commander's (very short trip on the water from the raft-up area) to get them ashore. This way everyone's timeline could be accommodated. Keep in mind (under this possible change) those that leave early might depart the raft-up area with a different skipper.
WE NEED MORE CAPTAINS / BOATS TO SIGN-UP!
EACH CAPTAIN SHOULD SET UP THEIR OWN "EVENT" on this same day limiting attendees to who you can carry SO INDIVIDUAL BOATS MAY SCHEDULE CREW. Don't forget to list your boat name (and sign up as boat 2, boat 3 etc. to assist those on waiting list) then get in touch with your sign-ups to let them know what time and from where you are departing (and how late you might stay out) this will assist with car / boat pooling back to the various marinas.
If you are not attending, there is no need to RSVP ***UNLESS*** you are a Captain.
CHOCOLATE PEARL WILL BE DEPARTING COMMANDER'S POINT MARINA APPROXIMATELY 1:00PM for some sailing time prior to the raft-up.
