For those who missed the last Greenbelt hike, here's your second chance. The Barton Creek Greenbelt is one of the most popular nature trails in Austin, with rock walls for climbing, spring water for swimming, and plenty of hike and bike trails. The entire trail is nearly 8 miles, but we will only be covering a portion of it on this hike.
We'll meet at the Twin Falls access point on southbound Mopac and hike up to the waterfall near the Scottish Woods trail entrance and back, covering about 5 miles total.
After the hike, we'll head to Red's Porch on South Lamar for food, drinks & socializing. The downstairs patio are at Red's is dog friendly, however the upper deck is not.
Directions to Twin Falls entrance:
Traveling south on Mopac, take the exit for 360 north, but stay on the Mopac frontage road going south. Go past the light at the 360 intersection and stay in the right lane. Just past the onramp to Mopac you will see a turn-around area under the Mopac bridge where you can park. Please note the Google map is slightly off.
Directions to Red's Porch:
From the Twin Falls parking lot, take 360 South then North on Lamar. Red's will be on the left at 3508 S. Lamar Blvd (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=3508+S.+Lamar+Blvd.+Austin,+TX+78704&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=65.430355,69.169922&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=3508+S+Lamar+Blvd,+Austin,+Travis,+Texas+78704&z=17).
