What we're about

The Aspire Foundation, the non-profit educational services organization now known as Awareness Institute, has supported the personal transformation of thousands since 1987. At the heart of this program is a well-tested and nurturing experiential process that inspires participants to take total responsibility for the circumstances of their lives. Thus empowered and encouraged on this accelerated path to consciousness, individuals move inevitably toward harmony, integration and a life of freedom. The talents and resources of the group are committed to bringing a healing, unifying presence to life. Our service programs reflect our clear intention to educate, support and assist humanity to realize the gift of these challenging and transitional times.

CENTERED & Midtown Art Therapy | 5Rhythms Dance, Couples Therapy, Counseling, Movement

Hi everyone, I hope you’re staying healthy and aware during this time of transition. I’m reaching out to let you know how we at the Awareness Institute will be changing our schedule to adapt to the latest guidance regarding the Coronavirus. As you’re no doubt aware, there are new guidelines on gatherings and social distancing. So, we will be moving our evening classes from in-person to online for the next few weeks. We are also postponing our March 27 "Living Your Inspiration" workshop for several weeks until we have a greater read on the Coronavirus. It sounds like the next two weeks will clarify the intensity and duration of this pandemic - especially in the US. We are hoping for the best and want to be wise and prudent in how we serve our community. Before we get to specifics, let’s talk about navigating this phase we’re going through together. There is an unprecedented global pause on many daily activities. Not only are most public work and entertainment venues closed or limited, even sporting events have been halted. People are staying home. This kind of collective focus has happened historically, but mainly only during times of war, and involving only parts of the globe. What’s happening now reaches everyone, everywhere – all are being asked to pull back from our daily routines, giving us opportunities to be quiet and reflect, or to address things at home in a new way. Regardless of the specifics, we are left with more time on our hands than we’re accustomed to - a spontaneous and unplanned time of retreat where we can redirect our energy and attention inward. There’s also much fear in the world right now, and while it may be the go-to emotion, let’s be clear: fear is never helpful. And yet, fear often comes up not just with reminders of mortality, but with the prospect of facing the unknown. Shorn of the daily busyness that holds an inner call at bay, we are met with the silence we left behind and had thought to postpone to some moment in the future “when we have the time to take time out.” Well, that future has arrived. And whether you’re home with kids, home alone, or active at work and alone in the evenings – we are all spending our time differently than before. So, beyond the basics of staying healthy, this is a good time to set up a regular exercise routine, catch up on rest, and to observe your mind and thoughts in action from the perspective of observational awareness. Daily breathing practices and reading – such as the Presence Process – can help to deepen your focus and keep you grounded during this transition. We’ll be in touch with you all as things unfold in the coming weeks. Though we’re not meeting in person for a few weeks, we encourage you to stay involved and get the emotional support that comes with connecting and sharing. Our Wednesday classes will be moving to an online platform, so we can stay connected to the community and continue to support one another. ===To participate in our virtual Wednesday night class, please fill out this form https://awarenessinstitute.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2e81037001933207454f41e4b&id=6afb468805&e=8f8576e1b0 and click the link on the bottom of the form for detailed instructions on how to join us.=== *Update on "Living Your Inspiration" As mentioned above, the March 27 workshop - the second in our workshop series - will be postponed for the next few weeks, though the remainder of our workshop schedule remains the same. Stay tuned for updates. Thank you in advance for your patience as we come up to speed on convening our community via online. In the meantime, let's put our tools and practices to work - breathe, give yourself space to feel, and do your best to trust the process. With love and gratitude, Shannon, Colleen and the Awareness Institute Team
