Join them for a long weekend over Columbus Day and discover the best of Guatemala! Surrounded by volcanoes, Antigua will enchant you with its rare beauty, vibrant culture, and significant history. We will discover the tranquility of Lake Atitlan (known as the most beautiful lake in the world) and the surrounding villages on boat as well as the famous Chichicastenango market. Friday, October 5: Arrive to Antigua & Walking Tour
Our flight will depart JFK at 4:40AM arriving to Guatemala City at 9:15am on Friday. We will transfer (45min) to Antigua to check-in our luggage at our boutique hotel before enjoying a lunch in the historic colonial town.

After lunch we'll meet our guide for our 3hr walking tour of Antigua and learn more about the Guatemalan history during colonial times. We visit the Cathedral and the fountain on the main square and hear the city history. From the second floor in the City Hall we'll have a nice view to all the main plazas and the Volcano Agua. We'll continue to the cloister of Capuchinas, a very good example of the colonial architecture. A visit the San Francisco El Grande Church, one of best-preserved churches in Antigua and the resting place of the first saint in Central-America, Hermano Pedro. We'll walk to the beautiful baroque church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced.

Saturday, October 6: Chichi Market & Lake Atitlan Tour
We will depart in the early morning and get to Chichi Market around 9am. The famous Chichicastenango outdoor market is the biggest in Central America. Here we'll see goods that come from all over the country as well as taste local dishes, fruits, and vegetables offered there. Here is where we'll see Guatemalan live culture. From the appearances of its people, their entrepreneur spirit when bargaining and selling their merchandise to local dishes and other products from the rich Guatemalan soil.

After exploring Chichi for a few hours, we'll continue our tour to Panajachel, a small town located on the northeast shore of Lago de Atitlan. Panajachel is a quaint, charming town where we'll stop for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before heading over to visit the town's main square. Our guide will walk us along the street and observe town life at the locally made handcraft stalls, other shops, and restaurants. We'll admire beautiful views of Lago de Atitlan from the shores of Panajachel before heading back to Antigua.

Sunday, October 7: Pacaya Volcano
In the morning enjoy exploring or relaxing before we depart to hike Pacaya Volcano in the early afternoon.
Pacaya Volcano is the most active volcano in Guatemala with altitude of 8,000ft. It has impressive views of the lagoon of Calderas and other three volcanoes:
