The Azure Sydney User Group is here to help Sydney developers, engineers, architects and everyone in between better understand and benefit from the Microsoft Azure public cloud. We encourage all our members to present and aim to spread our sessions across the breadth of Azure, talking on both Developer and IT Pro topics.
As recently as ten years ago if you'd have told developers they would be able to quickly add text recognition and text-to-speech to their applications without needing to be an expert in neural networking and AI they would not have believed you. In this month's session we'll learn how you can build applications that use these technologies all from the comfort of your IDE!
Our schedule for the evening currently looks like this:
Doors open at 5:45pm with food and drinks served at 6:00pm.
6:00 - 6:20pm - What's new in Azure - Sam Alavi (Kloud Solutions)
6:20 - 7:30pm - Build a Descriptive Assistant with Azure Cognitive Services - Somy Ayazi (Kloud Solutions)
7:30 - 8:00pm - Q&A and general catch up and networking
Main Session: Build a Descriptive Assistant with Azure Cognitive Services.
In this session we will show you how you can build an intelligent application to help less-well sighted people discover information in the world around them.
We'll use Visual Studio and C# to interface with Azure Cognitive Services APIs (AI on an API) to quickly compose a mobile web experience that allows anyone with a smartphone with a camera to discover what items they are viewing contain or even that those objects are!
Somy is a business consultant at Kloud Solutions who has a passion for all things tech! This session was a challenge she made for herself to see how much she could achieve by combining technology she knows deeply with Azure services she is on a learning journey for.
