We're honored to announce Paul Hake, CEO of HitPoint Studios, will be presenting: It's Business Time!

After nearly 10 years of running a games studio largely focused on Unity game development, Paul Hake will be giving a presentation about general studio operations, business development, team management and more. This talk will cover various aspects of raising capital for game development, ways to configure your team, what to look out for in contracts, keeping tabs on your production budget and more. Though this talk won't cover all aspects of running a studio, its goal is to provide a crash course for those just starting out or those interested in running a game studio. Paul will base the presentation on a series of "lessons learned" during his time running HitPoint Studios and will end with recommendations on further reading and talks.

About Paul:
Before founding HitPoint in 2008, Paul was an independent game designer and producer for PC, social and online games including Littlest Pet Shop VIPs and dozens of other Hasbro properties (Battleship, Yahtzee, Connect Four, Monopoly and others), Dreamworks, and Real Networks/GameHouse. After graduating from Umass Amherst, Paul decided to stay in the area and currently lives with his wife and two kids in the hills of Western Mass.

Logistics:
We’ll be meeting on August 29th (6PM to 9PM) at the Cambridge Innovation Center’s Venture Cafe (on the 5th floor), 1 Broadway, Cambridge.

Our venue
CIC Cambridge is located at 1 Broadway in Cambridge, just outside the Kendall Square Red Line T stop. Whenever possible, public transportation is recommended but for those who choose to drive, parking is available underneath the building on the Third Street side. Visitor parking is also available at the Kendall St garage and at the Marriott Hotel garage, and there's limited street parking as well. When checking in at the ground floor security desk of CIC Cambridge, please be sure to bring along a government-issued ID. Due to a construction project, please excuse the in-progress look of the lobby and allow yourself a few extra minutes for passage up to the 5th floor. Venture Cafe is located on the 5th floor, just outside the elevators.
