What we're about
We're a social group of Aussie Rules fans and supporters who would rather have a run outside and kick the Sherrin than exercise on a treadmill in a stuffy gym. Bang was started by a group of guys who still wanted to have a run and kick but with work and family weren't able to commit to a team training twice a week and playing every weekend. We get together every Sunday morning from 9:45 for a 10am start and finish around noon with a halftime break. We're not an organised team in an organised competition, we're about exercise and having fun.
Fitness, age and skill level is not inportant, all you need is enthusiasm, but you'll be surprised just how fast your skill level will improve, even if you've never kicked a Sherrin before. We're non-contact but the occassional Bang into another player going for the ball may happen.
We have a kick at various sporting grounds in the inner west, mostly Henson Park Marrickville during the AFL season and we BANG rain, hail or shine. This is followed by a well-earned drink at a local pub where we often stay and watch the televised game.
Throughout the year we also have a number of social events as well as the occassional sausage sizzle and drinks after play.
Once you BANG you'll be hooked and won't be able to wait for next Sunday to come around.
We welcome both guys and girls to join us. So come down and have a kick.
We start on the first Sunday of February and play through til the last Sunday in November. Membership is $30 for the season and covers the cost of new balls and to subsidise social events.
