Happy Year's End and Looking Forward

Dear Queers,

The lovely potluck we just had has me reflecting on BAQ20S's incredible growth this year, and what might be in store next year.  Thank you all for making this an amazing year with Meetup.  BAQ20S is really blooming and I'm so grateful to have you all as part of this community.  We started in November 2012, saw our first regular members in spring of this year, and I expect wonderful things for us in 2014.  I have a request to make, though:

My aim with this group is to develop a deep and fulfilling sense of community.  To achieve this I have tried to make sure there are always several upcoming events on the calendar at a variety of times and (somewhat) variety of locations.  I try to schedule events that will allow folks to have meaningful interaction.  I try to make sure events are pretty low commitment, BART accessible, and free or cheap.  And I try to make sure that I or another designated event host is present to facilitate introductions and keep things flowing.

I'm outlining all this because I think I'm starting to reach my energy out-put limit.  The group is gaining serious momentum and I want to keep it going, but I could use some help.  My dream is that BAQ20S eventually forms a pod of event hosts who can share in the roll I play now.  Organizing is so much more fun in a team!  We've already had several members host events themselves this year and that was awesome!  It's great to have hosts from different regions, with different skills, and different interests who can help members connect and have fun in different ways.

So if you think you might be interested in being more involved on an on-going basis, or even just being a one-time host, please let me know.  It's been a really rewarding experience for me so far and I'd like to see the group continue on for several more YEARS...but I know I won't last that long on my own.

Whatever your involvement level, thank you again for being part of this group and I'm looking forward to seeing you again next year.  Next meetup is Storytelling Night Jan[masked]pm.

Happy Year's End.

Best,

Emily
