HALF DOME HIKE OVERNIGHTER

http://www.baysideadventuresports.com/yosemite-half-dome.html

MUST REGISTER AT http://www.baysideadventuresports.com/yosemite-half-dome.html - RSVP here on Meetup does not hold your spot.

Want to Hike the iconic Half Dome trail and stand on top of the 8,839' high granite rock?  Bayside Adventure Sports Executive Director Greg Weisman will take a group of hikers on this 17 mile hike that climbs nearly a vertical mile from the Yosemite Valley floor.  This will be Greg's 34th time doing the Half Dome trail so he knows the trail very well!  Special safety harness made for attaching to the Half Dome Cables are available as well as some extra tents and camping supplies.

Priority Registration will go to those who came on the June 2016 Yosemite Trip who had registered for hiking Half Dome but didn't actually hike it.  For those people, they come for just $25.  For others, cost is $62.   Maximum number is 20 people.  The trip includes campsite, Greg's Leadership, Half Dome Permit, Cable Harnesses, custom map.

Other Details:  Arrive the 28th in time to get a good night's sleep (anytime between noon and 8pm), wake by 4:30am, take down tents and pack up campsite, have breakfast and on the trail by 5:30am.  Return to the cars about 5pm.  We'll get dinner together either in the Valley at Half Dome Village or on the way home.  We have 3 campsites in Upper Pines for this trip.  People will be in their own tents.  There is only room for two vehicles to be parked at each campsite - all others will be parked close by in overflow parking.

NOTE:  There is a $30 per car National Park Entrance Fee to get into Yosemite National Park that is good for one week.  BAS cannot organize carpools but you can!  Just put a note on this Meetup that you would like to carpool and connect with others.

Sorry - dogs or alcohol are not permitted on BAS events due to liability issues - no exceptions.

REGISTER AT: http://www.baysideadventuresports.com/yosemite-half-dome.html

An annual Bayside adventure Sport membership is required for this event. If you are new to BAS, a one month trial membership is available (valid for most of our free events). This annual fee helps offset our high insurance cost and keeps most of our events free. We are totally going to do this multiple times per year. Lots of interest. I am also working on details for our Winter President's Day Weekend camping trip in Yosemite.

YES! Quick in and quick out has benefits. I once did a Tioga Pass motorcycle ride, full day from Sacramento and back. For those of us short on time, 1-2 trips are awesome!!!

Annalise, did you get the email I sent today about the Half Dome Trip? Monica is not registered but you could reply to those who are registered to try to find others to carpool with.

I am putting my camping gear in order. Are bear boxes available for the food or is that something we need to bring with us?

    September 7

    • Greg W.

Yes, there are bear bins at each of the 5 campsites we have. But please plan to share it with others so bring a small cooler or box to put in there. Great question!
