WHERE: Point Reyes, Marin County
SKY Trail - BEAR VALLEY LOOP (17 km / 10.5 mi.) Begin at the Bear Valley Trailhead, at the south end of the Bear Valley Parking Lot. A nice varied hike, through mixed Douglas fir forest, meadows and chaparral and also open grass with coastal views and beach access. Begin by climbing the Mt. Wittenberg Trail (400 m / 1300 ft. elevation in 2.9 km / 1.8 mi.) and then continue through the forest all the way out Sky Trail to Coast Trail. Then continue south on Coast Trail to Arch Rock. Enjoy your last coastal view here, before returning via Bear Valley Trail through beautiful buckeyes and mixed Douglas forest and along Coast Creek.
WHO: This hike is for adults who are in good physical hiking condition. Not for beginners.
WHEN: 7:30 ready to leave at 7:40 West Sac - Enterprise Park N Ride Park-N-Ride off on Hwy 80, in West Sacramento on Enterprise Drive at the Interstate 80 interchange. its on the right, can't miss it.

Leaving from West Sac Park & Ride- around two drive to Pt Reyes
Follow Interstate 80 about 50 miles (80 km) west toward Vallejo.
Take Exit 33B to head west on California Highway 37 toward Novato/San Rafael.Bathroom stop before we take Exit 33B.
Be sure to merge into the left lane of the off-ramp, because the right lane quickly becomes an exit lane off Highway 37.
From Interstate 80, follow California Highway 37 west about 19 miles (30 km).
Take the Black Point/Atherton Avenue exit, which is about 1 mile (1.6 km) past the bridge over the Petaluma River. At the stop sign, turn left onto Atherton Avenue.
Follow Atherton Avenue west 3.2 miles (5.1 km). As the road crosses Highway 101, it becomes San Marin Drive. Continue west for about 2.5 miles (4 km) to the junction with Novato Blvd.
Turn right onto Novato Blvd. and proceed west for about 6 miles (10 km) to the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
Turn left and follow the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road southwest toward Point Reyes Station for about 7 miles (11 km) to the junction with Platform Bridge Road.
Turn right to stay on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road and continue west for about 3 miles (5 km) to the junction with California Highway 1 in the town of Point Reyes Station.
Turn left onto Highway 1, drive south through Point Reyes Station and continue south on Highway 1 approximately 2.5 miles (4 km). Look for a brown "Point Reyes National Seashore" sign just beyond the Olema RV Resort & Campground. If you get to a flashing red light, you've gone 100 yards (100 m) too far.
Turn right onto Bear Valley Road and head west about 1/2 mile (0.8 km). Look for a big red barn on the left and a sign for "Visitor Center; Headquarters; Information" on the right.
Turn left after passing by the red barn and proceed up the left fork of the driveway to the Bear Valley Visitor Center, the park's primary contact station.
WHAT TO BRING: Layered clothing that wicks moisture, comfortable hiking boots, hiking poles, hat,sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, at least 2 liter containers of water (hydration bladders or Nalgene-type bottles), food for lunch and snacks and a camera, $$ for gas
Dogs and alcohol are not permitted on BAS events due to liability issues.
CARPOOL:Due to liability issues, BAS cannot organize or provide carpooling. At the Park & Ride parking lot , please be prepared to arrange your carpooling among yourselves and to help out drivers with gas money (A good rule of thumb is $3.00 for each hour of drive time.)
