BLAST Bookworms Book Club

  • This location is shown only to members

  • Come ready to discuss, describe, listen, and enjoy the company of other bookworms.

    WHAT DO WE READ?
The only requirements for your book are that it be authored by a woman, and that the story not be focused on a man/men in general. Within those parameters, we are eager to expand our knowledge of different authors and genres. As we know, women writers generally don't get the exposure provided by the Bestseller lists…. so let’s share their work with each other.

    ABOUT THE BLAST BOOKWORMS CLUB
    • This is a different kind of reading group, in that we are not all reading the same book at the same time.
    • We start with a 5-minute check-in: Who you are, where you’re from, and most importantly, why do you read? Each of us then has 10 minutes to share about her book. (We will keep a timer to allow everyone to participate). We end with a brief check-out followed by socializing for anyone who is interested.
    • Come prepared to talk about (and if possible, loan) one book written by a woman. Why did you like it? Why do you recommend it to other women? You may have found the characters to be people whom you would like to meet and spend time with. Perhaps the plot caught you from the first paragraph and you couldn't put it down. Maybe the setting was somewhere you have been, or wish to go. Reading this book entertained, enlightened, educated, or even frightened you with new ideas or a different point of view. This is what we would like you to share. (We do our best to avoid repeating the plot verbatim, revealing plot twists, and giving away the endings.)
    • If you are describing a book but you don’t have a copy to lend, please bring all necessary info for others to find it on Kindle or online.
    • At the end of the evening, those who brought books have the opportunity to each borrow one. Please make sure you provide your name, phone #, and address inside the book if you want it returned to you.

SIZE OF GROUP and YOUR RSVP
Because of both space issues and to allow time for everyone to fully share, the group is limited each time to 8 women. Your RSVP is very important - please be sure you can attend before RSVPing yes. If you’re on the Waiting List, be sure to check back to see if you have moved up.

    COST: Free
