Brooklyn Future Meetup +30 Years is Being Revived/New Organizer Introduction

Dear Brooklyn Future Meetup Members,

I’m pleased to advise you of my plans to revive The Brooklyn Future +30Y meetup’s regular events. It's been about a year since our last event. As a fellow member, I enjoyed the presenters, as well as the social and intellectual discourse Sam and his assistants made possible. This weekend, I assumed Sam’s “Organizer” position.

I’m taking the next 4-6 weeks to evaluate member input on program formats, topics, venues, potential speakers and willingness to assist in event development. With 1,700 members and a history of success, we have much to offer. The first few programs will be similar to those we had in DUMBO, rather than the larger venues like the Y.

We’ll maintain the future focus, though perhaps not always 30 years out. While technology will remain important, other topics will get their fair share. Ways to partner with other meetups and facilitate more audience discussion are priorities.

My day job is running Promenade Speakers Bureau, which should help in speaker recruitment. I’m looking for others in our group to complement this expertise.

Shortly, I’ll send you a survey to facilitate the planning process. Feel free to contact me with ideas and your interest in becoming assistant organizers or helping as needed. I hope you stay with us and look forward to meeting you.

Please respond to my email directly, not to the group at large by contacting:

pspeakers (at) verizon (dot) net.

Sincerely,

Mike Taubleb
