Join BRIDGEMEN for a once-a-year opportunity as we walk through our neighborhoods (including Castro, Noe, and Mission) to assist with the 2013 Neighborhood Homeless Street Count.
This important annual street count is used as a basis for major grants, federal/state funding and used to allocate resources for the homeless throughout San Francisco.
BRIDGEMEN will gather together between 6:45pm and 7:00pm. Promptly at 7:00pm we'll receive a one-hour group training from the SFPD and the Department of Public Health on homelessness. Then we'll break into teams to walk, bike or drive (if you have a car) over an assigned 4-by-4 block route from 8:00pm to approximately 11:00pm. This is your chance to learn more about the homeless in SF and spend 3-4 hours making a difference in their lives.
Afterwards you are invited to warm up with us at the Bare Chest Calendar semi-finals at The Powerhouse, a fundraiser for the AIDS Emergency Fund and Project Inform, where BRIDGEMAN Ross is a contender! Jay will have free access passes and we'll coordinate plans to meet up before we deploy to the neighborhoods.
**Please note: This is a rain or shine event so please dress appropriately. If you're interested but can only volunteer for part of the evening please let us know.
