What we're about

What do you do with a broken toaster?
Or with a mobile phone that won’t turn on?
Or with a jumper full of moth holes? Toss it?

No way! Come and get it repaired at South Bristol's REPAIR CAFE, (part of the international Repair Cafe movement) at the United Reformed Church on the corner of West Street and Stanley Street.
Between the opening hours, various volunteer repairers will be on hand to help with repairing anything you would like (all free of charge). Previously, people visiting the Repair Café have brought along toasters, lamps, hair dryers, clothes, bikes, toys, crockery... anything that is broken is welcome.
The volunteer repairers will do their best to fix them – there are no guarantees, but between them, they have years of experience at fixing things and they enjoy a challenge! And while you're waiting for your repair to be done, buy a cup of tea or a slice of cake!

By promoting repairs, we want to help reduce the mountains of waste produced by the UK. Many treasured items can be repaired easily and will be cheaper than buying new, which also saves money, resource and reduces CO2 emissions.
But above all, Repair Cafe can show how much fun (and easy) repairing things can be!

The Repair Café concept arose in Amsterdam, where the Repair Café Foundation has regularly been organising gatherings since 2010. There's been a Repair Cafe presence in Bristol since 2012 and this is the first one south of the river!

You can also find us on Facebook as REPAIR CAFE BS3 or more information about the foundation at www.repaircafe.org.
