Christina Anderson’s How to Catch a Creation tells love stories of six characters across nearly 50 years. Set in San Francisco, the play centers on four artists struggling to create. The discovery of works by a feminist writer from the 1960s–a writer who was both black and queer–raises questions about love, artistic endeavor, and the prison industrial complex. American Theatre magazine has identified playwright Anderson as an artist whose work “will be transforming America’s stages for decades to come.” This bittersweet tale about following your passion, delves into life, family and art, offering profound empathy and affirmation. We've been so impressed with this year's culturally dynamic lineup at Baltimore Center Stage for the 2018/19 season. Exposure to diverse artistic expression allows us to connect first in our humanity, allowing for a deeper understanding and empathy for others' experiences and beliefs. The run of exciting works continues with this world-premiere by Anderson, a Lorraine Hansberry Award winner. Directed by Nataki Garrett in her Center Stage debut, How to Catch a Creation is produced in association with Philadelphia Theatre Company. ABOUT OUR VENUE Maryland's "official state theater," is situated in Baltimore's historic Mount Vernon district. Founded in 1963, Baltimore Center Stage is recognized as a pioneer in the regional theater movement in the 20th century. In 2017, the theater completed an award-winning $28 million building renovation of the historic complex that created more opportunities for art-making and community building, with new public spaces to gather before and after shows and state-of-the-art performance spaces with the best in theater design and technology. WHERE TO FIND US: We'll gather on the 4th floor in the Deering Lounge outside of the Head Theater where the performance will take place.

Hampden Craft Walk

Waverly Brewing Company

The walk you’ve been waiting for… Hampden Craft Brew Walk. Curated by Mixolo Go Solo, as part of our “Love the City You’re With” solo-friendly tours, we’ll taste and tour each of Hampden’s iconic brewhouses. Our walking tour includes three of the greatest and, arguably, the most resilient brewers in Baltimore and beyond. All three breweries have sparked a local maker spirit fostering explosive growth in local craft breweries and spirits alike. Each started from modest beginnings, with friends, family and a lot of love and sweat - right here in Baltimore. People come from far and wide for the craft beer on tap in a 1-mile radius in Hampden for beer, fun and community. Tickets can be purchased via Mixolo at the link below. https://www.mixolo.io/events/hampden-craft-brew-walk Ticket Cost: EARLY BIRD $60 REGULAR ADMISSION $75 What's included in my ticket? Tours, tastings and drinker’s choice drinks indicated above as well as light snacks at Nepenthe and Waverly. His love and knowledge of Baltimore’s exceptional craft beer are evident in his articles. Many may remember Baltimore’s beloved City Paper and Jensen’s Charmed Life column now culminated in a book of the same name. Jensen writes a craft-beverage column for Maryland Sip & Savor (https://mdsipandsavor.com) magazine called "Omnibibulous" (def. one who enjoys alcoholic beverages for all sorts). BREWERIES FEATURED: Nepenthe Homebrew: We’ll travel an easy 1-mile loop with Nepenthe Homebrew first on the list. We’ll tour their brand spankin’ new digs on Falls Road just steps from the famed Avenue in Hampden and enjoy a guided tasting plus one 1/2 pint beer, drinker's choice. Union Craft Brewing has come a long way from their modest digs on Union Avenue in Hampden where they were bursting at the seams. We’ll tour their new, massive operations and get the scoop on their ambitious effort to advance other local makers, from spirits to coffee to ice cream and more in their brainchild, Union Collective, just opened last fall off 41st Avenue in Hampden. Waverly Brewing Company : After our time at Union, we’ll head over to laid back and intimate Waverly overlooking the mighty Jones Falls for our final tour and guided tasting plus one full-sized beer, taster's choice.
