SATURDAY 17 MAY - THE NEW FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Day trip by minibus to hike in Britain's smallest National Park. This is a beautiful and unspoilt part of southern England but is neither new nor entirely forest. We can enjoy a varied landscape of ancient woodland, pretty villages and open grazing land with sweeping views. A real delight!
THIS WALK IS BEING RUN BY THE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CLUB (http://www.meetup.com/outdooradventureclub/).
This fairly lengthy 10-mile walk includes a lovely mix of of ancient woodland and high heathland. There are some great views across the forest landscape. The New Forest is also famous for the wild ponies that once roamed large areas of Britain centuries ago. We will certainly encounter some of these majestic animals during our hike.
£28 contribution per person for the day trip. There are no trains to this area so this is the best way to get there.
Use PayPal to make payment please. If you are unemployed and receiving social benefits please contact us to ask about paying a reduced fee.
Although there are pubs and cafes in some of the villages we will visit it is always important to carry some high energy snacks (dried fruit, chocolate, nuts etc) or bring your own packed lunch. Also remember to carry plenty of water.
It is impossible to state a specific return time as it depends on the traffic, weather conditions, the general pace of the group and other unplanned factors. Those who decide to join the hike should consider themselves committed for the entire day. Thanks.
Please ensure that you have basic adequate equipment. For this walk you are required to have hiking shoes or boots and a good waterproof jacket.
This is a fabulous day out combining wildlife, woodlands and great views!
