Super Summer Lake Tahoe kayak adventure !

  • Sep 13, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

The water will be the warmest of the year at this time.  The crowds will be gone.  Over a week after labor day to rest up.

I know so many cool spots all over the area.  WE can camp.  Or some can use motels.  Lot's of details to work out.

Some areas to see: Hidden Chimney beach. Emerald Bay with the stone Tea House on the island to kayak to.  Vikingshome castle & Eagle falls on the beach & in the forest.

Bliss park with the awesome Rubicon Trail starting point.  Spooner lake.  Fallen leaf lake. Beautiful beaches to cruise to.  I know of two breakfast places with killer food.  I used to go there several times a yr. One is in Brockway Springs next to Kings Beach.

Watch for kayak rental prices & camping fees soon.  WE COULD ALSO RENT A VAN.  or two.  Then some of you can put your kayak on top.   Lot's of options.

I have spent many years exploring the Lake Tahoe area.  I have been away too long.

Give me your feedback.

Aloha Vince our new poet & philosopher. His way with words. I posted about 60 pics yesterday, but I don't see them all???? Took me 2 hours. Are they hiding somewhere ??

Who’d have known that the sun can flood a lake with light to various shades of blue and green while painting the surrounding mountains with pine forests so that the kayakers can paddle about the waking waves under whisps of clouds in tranquility. A treasurable trip worth remembering. Fellow paddlers, shoot me a message if you want any specific pics.

Another wild & fun time had by most. (I think) The kayak return trip from the far beach was a bit tough against the wind, but the Private property party in the cove was so funny. We are all on camera. And the property owners can always call the kayak rental co. & complain as their info was printed on the kayaks.
A bBQue followed & most held up pretty good after all the water & sun. I liked the boulder fields under water the best. ** For those who stayed on for Sunday; After breakfast we/some went on South to beautiful Emerald bay for some mild rock climbing , photos & awesome scenery. Then we rented bikes & cruised South shore to wild & beautiful Fallen leaf lake & then on to Baldwin beach for a quick swim. Then had dinner at Rum Runner near Camp Richardson on the lake shore. I saw the fires at Pollock pines on the way home. ** Check out the Photos.

Its was a blast, great group of people, the day on the lake was an adventure pushing us physically and the dinner we pulled together to prepare was really fun afterwards.

NOTE: READ THIS AGAIN !!!!!!!!! bring large & small zip lock bags. Bring towels , bathing suit, hat, sunscreen, glasses, larger bag for wet /dirty clothes. Bring some bungee cords or straps. ALSO: water shoes or sandals. **And maybe hiking shoes for Sunday.(Optional) A small cooler or large one for the land & small one for the kayak. You will need a lunch for sat. There are stores & a deli. ***Please scroll down to see the Kayak rental & put in location in King's Beach. It is to the left at the water just to the left of the main public beach area. Near the Log cabin restaurant. Start arriving between 10:00 am & 12: noon. Bring a jacket or windbreaker as thunderstorms can come up. I just always bring a small cooler & a cushion for the backrest of the kayak ; so you can sit up straighter. (More comfort).
I would bring your own pillow, etc. even if you are camping or are in the house. (That way you will feel more at home, warm & fuzzy, etc.

I am new to the group and look forward to being a part of This event. I do not drive so is there a chance that I could car pool with one of the members to the venue?

    September 6, 2014

    • Angela L

Vince /Binz: Put your carpool requests or offers in this online spreadsheet. There is a gal from Santa Clara that is offering a ride. https://docs.google.co...

How much is it? I was going to rent a kayak from the rental place listed as the meeting place? (I was assuming the bfast and social were pay your own, and the lunch was bring your own and kayak was rent your own?).

      September 7, 2014

    • Angela L

Posting for Tom: Kayak rental is through Tom. Send him $70 for all day rental. If you rent or bring your own kayak, send Tom $35 instead.

CARPOOL: As Tom has 6 meetup groups (1 duplicate posting), it is difficult to find carpool mates. I set up an online google spreadsheet for all group members with carpool offers and carpool requests. Please add in your contact information (email at least) so folks can contact you. If you are looking at sharing a rental car, please note it in the spreadsheet. Plan your own carpools.

Here is the link to the spreadsheet:

I have added my carpool request to the spreadsheet (https://www.dropbox.co...).

    • Angela L

Hi Justin, if you can sign in to google (you can use any email, not necessarily a gmail account) in order to put your contact and request information on the spreadsheet, then we will have only 1 document to refer to. I don't see your contact info online. Thanks!
