This is a meet up group for people who are interested in playing badminton, making friends who love badminton. Single, doubles or all skills levels are welcome. I am organising this group because I realize that more and more people are falling in love with this game in Califonia. I am new to this country and Bay Area. I hope to meet new friends to enjoy this game together and make a healthier body through doing this sport. So, shoot me a message and let's start connecting.
I ) Bring your own shuttlecocks to the badminton meetup.
2) Pay the admission at the reception
3) Announce the court number on the discussion forum if you get there early. Check the forum where the group is if you cannot find us.
As the Fri group is expanding, I would like to re-clarify the idea of "diversity" in a more detailed way, because I think we have enough capacity (10+people) to be able to accommodate people from all different sorts of badminton levels and social cultural backgrounds and make sure every single one is having fun. So, I would encourage people to use your best emotional intelligence and judgement to find time to play with the people who has a lower level than you for whatever period of time that is available to you. Say, if you think you are an advanced/intermediate level player, please spend some time with intermediate/ beginning level players 1) intentionally reach out or 2)whenever you want to take a break from finishing some exhausting games, or 3) you notice beginner players (they have fewer resources ) are "lonely". Whatever ways you feel resonate with. But, (Important!) you do not have to sacrifice your own play rhythm and time for taking care of others.
This is probably not within your comfort zone and it might not be able to maximize the enjoyment of getting the competitiveness of the game. However, I would invite members to challenge themselves a little bit and find different ways of enjoying badminton through playing with various people. If you have difficulties to make that happen, or you do not feel comfortable with that idea, that is also understandable and worth being well respected. I want to honor that diversity piece too. We do not judge people on that too. ☺☺
