Tuesdays Level I; 7:00 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. Feb 4 - Mar 25:

This class focuses on the fundamentals of isolation, traveling steps, and timing all within the exotic presentation of Oriental Dance (belly dance). Be prepared to work!, this is not your grandmother's Belly Dance class. Wendy combines her expertise and training acquired through her formal education in Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, and Yoga with her appreciation for the famous Suhaila Salimpour format. Wendy has also served in the military and knows how to deliver "boot camp". Additionally, the class includes Wendy's Yoga Dance which increases strength through lengthening while activating dance isolation, engagement from the inside-out.

Thursdays Level II; 7:00 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. Feb 13 - Apr 24 (skips for Rangoli performance)

Once you have a solid understanding and execution of the fundamentals offered in Level I you are invited to join us for a more advanced challenge. Here we layer movements in conjunction with traveling steps, more demanding performance execution, and choreography. This level II class is an extension of our level I class so please make sure you have a nice ownership of your level I accomplishments and are ready to up the ante! Stylization is explored through our increased body awareness and characterization: American Cabaret, Tribal Fusion, Egyptian Impressionism, Folklore Fusion, etc...Once you own deliberate control of your body you can "perform" any style as you learn and connect with its character. Explore with what resonates with you and discover your new dance communication!
