************************************************

Join us on Sunday, June 22nd when we head to Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton, MD where we'll explore this popular, award-winning topiary and flower gardens! A short 30-minute drive north of Baltimore takes us to this "exquisite garden estate" (as The New York Times describes it), which has been named one of "10 incredible topiary gardens around the world" by Architectural Digest, "The most outstanding topiary garden in America" by the Garden Club of America and has won the "Top 5 North American Gardens Worth Traveling For" Award.

A self-taught gardener, Harvey S. Ladew created 15 thematic “garden rooms” on 22 acres of his 250-acre Ladew property. As you stroll through the gardens, it’s hard to believe that one man, with no formal training and very little outside help, created such a magnificent, living masterpiece. Even more astonishing is that he created the gardens in addition to transforming the old white farmhouse, into the stately Manor House visitors have the opportunity to see today.

On our meetup day trip, we’ll tour the Manor House and the Gardens of course, as well as go out on a 1.5 mile nature walk on the grounds. And as an optional, but recommended activity, we’ll take advantage of the Summer Concerts and enjoy the show by Psycho Killers, the well-known Talking Heads tribute band, which does great cover tunes of one of the most diverse bands in rock and roll history.

Let's meet at out front of the visitor center at 12:00pm.

When you arrive at Ladew Gardens, check-in at the Visitor’s Center and buy your ticket. The cost for House and Gardens tour, and Nature Walk is $13.00... if you stay for the concert too, its $18.00.

House tours are approximately 45 minutes in length and start at 11:30 and continue on the half hour until 4:00. The 22-acre Gardens can be toured in 1 hour, more or less. The Nature Walk takes about 45 minutes. All tours are sold on a first come first serve basis. The concert is from 6:00-8:00pm.

Hope to see you on June 22nd at Ladew Gardens!

Ugh!! Looks like I'm going to be late. So bummed, as this would have been my first Meetup w/this group, was really hoping to connect, but I've been delayed. If anyone sees a solo gal in a bright yellow sweater wandering around today -- please tap me on the shoulder & say "hello!" :-)

See you guys soon. Weather looking great - cloudy this am but when we meet at noon, its sun! ...& increasingly so as the day goes on. :) High of 80 - perfect temperature for hanging out outside! I'll be wearing an orange (orange/yellow) shirt.

Sorry I can't make this. Ladew is truly impressive. But it conflicts with another meetup.
