Michael Joseph Harris performs gypsy Jazz acoustic duo at a 30's style saloon in Remington. Sit close to the music at the back tables and arrive early to get a good seat. No cover, but tips are appreciated. This is a social place with a vintage Jazz theme, not a Jazz club per se, so expect a mix of talking and listening. I just found this place...looks very unassuming on the outside, but way cool on the inside. Plenty of small tables to gather around in groups of 4 to talk while the music's playing (they don't seem to mind), and a large table next to the band that seats about 8....don't worry, the music's not so loud that you woundn't want to sit in close. Also a great bar with 2 wonderful craft beers and cocktail specials. The bartenders are friendly, and the atmosphere is great.
It's easy to find in you keep the address in mind: 400 W 23rd Street. It's in a residential neighboorhood, looks like a house on the outside, and I didn't see a sign. The entrance is on the side. Music is scheduled to start at 8, but the bands run on jazz musician time, so it actually starts somewhere between 8 & 9. Hope to see you there.
