What we’re about
The Bangkok Shambhala Meditation Group is part of an international community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and further developed by his son and lineage holder Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. We offer basic meditation classes, free meditation instruction, a curriculum of Buddhist studies and Shambhala Training—a progressive series of weekend workshops that help students develop a personal meditation practice in order to engage more fully and compassionately in the world. We also provide opportunities for communal gatherings, celebrations, and events. We invite you to explore our diverse programs designed to help people of all traditions discover their inherent sanity, gentleness and humor.

See all- Café Shambhala: Reading & MeditationBangkok Shambhala Meditation Center, Watthana, KR
Join us for a meditation, reading and discussion class every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm - 8pm. Join by Google Meet or attend the class in person at the Shambhala Center.
This weekly event includes group meditation, followed by reading of a chapter from the current book, followed by group discussion on the material, plus refreshments and social time at the end.
Readings and discussions are based on the book, " The Teacup & The Skullcup: Chogyam Trungpa on Zen & Tantra". The Teacup and the Skullcup contains Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche s important teachings on Zen. The heart of the book is a series of seven talks given to students and the public in 1974, under the title Zen and Tantra. The talks provide a warmly appreciative survey of the roots, meditation, training techniques, results, and the historical places of Zen and tantra particularly the crazy wisdom tradition in the development of Buddhism. Trungpa Rinpoche delineates the underlying philosophies and aesthetic expression of the two traditions through vivid example, personal experience, and especially through a lively give and take with the audience. At times enigmatic, often humorous, and always challenging conventional ideas, Trungpa Rinpoche sheds a unique light on practice and the path. The Teacup and the Skullcup also includes his tantric commentary on one of Zen s most famous teaching devices the ten Oxherding Pictures as well as his eulogy for friend and mentor, Zen master Shunryu Suzuki Roshi.
