Phase 1: Building a Weir (small dam) and Cob Shelter

Mae Nam Phachi Wildlife Sanctuary is at Ratchaburi province. This place is strictly a protected area that is open only to educational or scientific research or for volunteering. The only way to help is to improve some damaged forest area is by manpower thru volunteering. Baandinthai ( has been working with Ranger Chief, Mr. Prateep, for a couple years building a small checked dam in the forest.

This year they were requested to help them build a cob shelter for natural researchers who come to study about wild life in the forest. We plan to work in 3 phases, this trip is the phase 1 which focuses on building cob blocks.

Itinerary of the Events:

16th Feb 2013

6 am -7 am: Meeting @ check point (7-11 opposite to King power @Rang Num)
7 am -10.30 am: Travel together by bus to Mae Nam Phachi Wildlife Sanctuary
10.30 am – 11.00 am: Welcome speech and briefing about Mae Nam Phachi Wildlife Sanctuary by Mr.Prateep
11.00 am – 11.30 am: Information of how to make a weir and a mineral lick
11.30 am – 12.00 pm: Making or repairing a mineral lick (in the forest)
12.00 pm – 1.00 pm Lunch
1.00 pm – 3.00 pm Making a weir (in the forest)
3.00 pm – 3.30 pm walking out from the forest
3.30 pm – 4.30 pm Take the bus to the Wildlife Sanctuary Office area
4.30 pm – 5.30 pm Set up tents
4.30 pm – 5.30 pm Dinner
6.30 pm – 8.00 pm Feedback and sharing session

17th Feb 2013

6 am -8 am: Breakfast
8 am – 12 pm: Making cob bricks
12 pm – 1 pm: Lunch
1 pm – 2 pm: Finishing cob bricks
2 pm – 3 pm: Packing tent and personal stuffs
3 pm – 6 pm: Travel back to Bangkok

Activity fee is Baht 1290 (Cover for van transportation, 1st day of lunch & dinner, 2nd day breakfast & lunch also with tents)

Be mindful of your attendance. I will update and send reminders from time to time and arrange things for you. I already have a list of people from our previous events who ignored my messages and didn't update their attendance status. Also, this event will ask for an advance payment as it is required by the organization ( who's hosting this volunteering activity.
