Dear fellow WordPress users, designers and developers. Here we are, the begining of a shiny new WordPress community in Bangkok. At least that's what we're aiming at.
Next meetup will be held on Feb. 24th. Yeah, in 3 days. I know it's very short notice, but we had an amazing opportunity for the kickoff meetup. Siobhan McKeown, WordPress enthousiast and very involved in the WP ecosystem, will do the honor of speaking about getting involved with WordPress.
Siobhan McKeown is a Word Ninja at Audrey Capital (Matt Mullenweg's investment company) where she writes about WordPress, deals with documentation, and has nightmares about the Codex.
She’s currently working on an open source book about the history of WordPress. She spends her days delving into the brains of its early developers and community members. When she’s not worrying about the finer details of forking and the GPL, she’s helping out with the project’s future by wrangling WordPress’ documentation. In her spare time, she writes and edits for Smashing Magazine, eats, reads, and travels the world.
If you've ever thought about getting (more) involved in the WordPress community, don't miss this event. That's what Siobhan is going to speak about.
WordPress is built by volunteers all over the world, and the project is always looking for new contributors. Volunteers get involved with all aspects of creating WordPress; from writing code to writing documentation, to designing the interface and creating the mobile apps. You can help out on the support forums, organise events, translate WordPress, and help out across the community. Whoever you are, there’s a place in the WordPress project for you. This talk will show how you can get started.
