Spark Growth Announces “Riverwalk 2013: A Four-day Destination Event”

Sarasota, FL
New Regional Collaborative Effort Launches Four Day High Profile Bradenton Area Event

Spark Growth, a collaborative effort dedicated to creating, developing and implementing multi-organizational and community-based initiatives, is pleased to announce the Spark Growth: Riverwalk 2013 event to be held Thursday, May 2nd through Sunday, May 5th  at the beautiful new Riverwalk complex in downtown Bradenton, Florida.  This premier four-day event, a joint effort of Spark Growth and BarCamp Sarasota-Bradenton in association with REALIZE Bradenton, will offer attendees a chance to experience four very different types of events that will showcase collaboration, cooperation, and vision across the Bradenton area and larger regional community. For complete event details and registration, visit us online at

Riverwalk 2013 is designed to be a transformational event for the community and regional businesses; all while showcasing our local quality of life features and the beautiful downtown Bradenton area.  This is about big ideas – with encouragement for actions and what steps to take next. Riverwalk 2013 will bring together a variety of passionate and lifelong learners, entrepreneurs, educators, innovators, and creatives – across the spectrum of business and technology, investment, economic development, and the arts.  See how business affects technology, technology affects business, and how education, funding and the creative communities all come together to promote growth, learning and economic development in our region.

Starting with a day of collaborative coding for REALIZE Bradenton on Thursday, structured speaker and panel discussions at the Economic Development Summit on Friday, to the familiarity of the BarCamp un-Conference on Saturday. The fun continues into the evenings with activities ranging from urban cool to classic chic and a Sustainable Shindig music festival on Sunday with the US Green Builders Expo. Come for one day, or all four – there’s something here for everyone!  Attendees are invited to listen, learn, participate in and experience what's cool and what’s new in business, technology, education and entrepreneurship.

The informative Economic Development Summit event will be held on Friday, May 3rd at the new Manatee Players Theatre in Bradenton. The focus of the day will be on technology development, investment and economic growth initiatives across Florida. Throughout the day, regional business and community leaders will examine current trends in disruptive technologies and business models in a series of panel discussions; which will include a Keynote address by Jim Stikeleather, Chief Innovation Officer of Dell.  Cost to attend the day’s scheduled panels and Keynote is $85 per person with a networking reception immediately following.

The unique BarCamp Sarasota-Bradenton event will be held on Saturday, May 4th at the Manatee Technical Institute’s brand-new and state of the art campus. This is a day of seminars, round table discussions, and impromptu gatherings where people share knowledge of their passions, skills, and learning. The magic of BarCamp is that nothing is scheduled in advance – the structure of the day evolves as people come together to learn and share. This is the seventh local BarCamp event, and the format has proven very popular among the hundreds of attendees at each of these unique events. The event is FREE with pre-registration, and there is an evening party on the Riverwalk.

Doors for both events open at 8:30 AM with refreshments and lunch provided by our Community Hosts and Sponsors.  Sessions run from 9:00am to 5:00pm both days. There will be a Community Hosts Pavilion at the Economic Development Summit featuring: REALIZE Bradenton, the City of Bradenton, the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, Bradenton Downtown Development Authority, the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, Manatee County Commission and the Suncoast Technology Forum.
