A mix of bar, permanent art installation and general hang-out, Horse Bazaar is popular with Melbourne's indie crowd and students. While the main bar is fairly nondescript - booths and lounges - it's hard to miss the videos projected onto the back wall. Horse Bazaar has long been a hub for digital arts and they have a 20-metre continuous digital canvas on which new media and digital artworks are projected. If that's not enough digital projection for you they also have the world's first Rear Projection Urinal - a little something to watch while heeding nature's call.
The drink selection at Horse Bazaar is as diverse as the videos. While they only offer four beers on tap, the bottled selection runs about 40 deep and takes in every continent around the world. The cocktail selection is equally extensive and offers both classics and house specialities.
With a relaxed crowd, a rotating roster of guest DJs, VJs and live acts and a Japanese-influenced menu - Horse Bazaar is well worth a run around the paddock.
