Storytelling for documentary making - Introductory session

ABOUT THIS EVENT This event is a free introduction to the 8 weeks course that will start on September 24th, happening on Tuesdays from 19:00 to 22:00 Join us if you are interested in learning new techniques about documentary making, or even if you just want to know some other people related to this field. Drinks and food are on donation base! ABOUT THE 8 WEEKS COURSE Reality can offer some of the most wonderful characters and stories. Yet experience shows that its hard to capture them fully if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for. For this reason a documentary film plan can be invaluable. But what is it exactly, and how do you write it? In this course, filmmaker and screenwriter Jonathan Herzberg will take you from your very first idea to a first version of a documentary film plan. We will discuss the creative process, explain how to explore an idea to find its full potential, how to do research, and how to translate the results of your research into an approach for filming. By sharing his knowledge, watching relevant material together and discussing student work, Jonathan will gradually introduce you to his core vision: The secret to write a good documentary does not lie in a specific type of structure or model, but in understanding the sources of the story within yourself. The course will require the student to do some work at home. For more details and registration to the course, please visit our website https://filmmakers.club/school/storytelling-for-documentary-making/ ABOUT THE TEACHER Jonathan Herzberg (1980) is a Barcelona based writer, director and film teacher. His great passion for and knowledge about film make him able to inspire students to find their own voice.
