Build Session: Help Make the "Giant Lite Brite"

Hey Makers!

We've devised a couple of teams for getting our "Giant Lite Brite" built.

1.  Printmaking Team!

We will use the 2 printmaking setups at the Creative Vision Factory to print the brown paper backing for the "Lite Brite."  We'll need to create ~60 prints of our logo to scatter over the 8"x8" squares.  To get it done, we can work in 2 teams of two people each.

We'll also need a team to chop a roll of paper into slightly smaller sheets that will fit inside of the individual Light Bright" design boxes.  If you have a paper trimmer, bring it!

For more info on the Printmaking team, contact Jessi: [masked]

2.  Woodshop Team!

This team will get to go to one of Eric's workshops!

For more info on this team, see the meetup:  Build Session: Woodshop Meetup.

This all can't take place on one day.  If you are interested in helping to make the Screen Printing Setup, let me know what day over the next two weeks would be good for you to meet up.

We'll also need to meet prior to the 30th to prep the 3 screens (apply emulsion and expose).  If you are up for helping me with this, then, you're awesome, and let me know!

Thank you,

I think we've got the printing frames built. If you have a paper cutter that would be good. You can bring saws and wood etc. I'm going to try to build a jig or two for cutting rod to lengths on a band saw or with a dremel, any helgood suggestions are appreciated. Paper cutting, a bunch of different types of saws for cutting acrylic, and figuring out how to polish acrylic. I've tried a few heat sources but am unhappy with their quality. Perhaps other heat sources or does anyone know of chemical acrylic polishing methods?

Do you need handsaws or miter boxes? What kind of wood do you need for the printmaking frames? Will they be used over & over again, or is this a one time use? Please let me know, & Ill bring what I can...

Simon, could you bring your saw again? I have some branches I want to cut down to rounds (unrelated to this project).

We are going to make a lot of prints next Sunday...I'm still working on what paper works best, but I'll decide on Thursday, and I'll bring it!
