Hagley is hosting a Maker Fest ( http://hagley.org/calendar/maker-fest )! This is shaping up to be a truly DIY (Do it Yourself) Celebration, with tons of variety. Yes, there will be electronics, but there will also be demos of chocolate making, tire art, professional guitar making, and puppet making!
Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for youth, but you can get in free if you volunteer for a few hours at the Barrel of Makers ( http://barrelofmakers.org/ ) booth. We will be doing a very simple craft with visitors to the Fest: LED Fridge Magnets!
Participants will learn:
• How to tell which side of an LED is negative, and which side is positive
• How to arrange these poles in line with those of the battery to turn on the LED
• How to use a heat gun*
*We will set up 2 "heat gun stations" where kids can shrink the tubing around the magnet and battery to keep them together. No experience necessary! The volunteers from the shift before you can teach you this very simple activity. Help us show more people that anyone can be a maker!
Hagley is expecting over 1,000 visitors, so we need lots of volunteers! Please comment below with what shift you would like:
9-12:30: Setup and Start!: KATIE LECOCQ and PETER
12:00-3:00: RICK F & GIVENS FAMILY (rotating)
2:30-6:00: KATIE LECOCQ & MICHELLE WEI
*NOTE: We'd love for you to show off your creations with us!
Can visitors touch and play with what you make? If so, we are happy to give you some of our table space.
