Gain the health benefits of yoga while honouring the body you're in. Standing, seated, and supported modifications for poses are combined with basic breathing exercises and meditation techniques to create a practice that will leave you feeling stronger, more balanced, and more flexible. The focus is on developing an accessible, healthy practice for each student.
Yoga props such as blankets, blocks, cushions, chairs and straps can be used for safe practice, and to allow the body to fully achieve each position comfortably. This class is held at a slower pace and focuses on stretching all areas of the body, while releasing stress and tension from joints and muscles.
The class is taught by Joanne Lougheed, who has been teaching to people of all ages and abilities for over 12 years. She has taken special training in teaching Gentle Yoga for Older Adults, an easy to learn style suitable for most students with physical concerns, including students recovering from injury or those with limited mobility.
