Milky Way Hike

Here's the plan:

We'll hike under the new moon to our destination at the lake and there we'll share dinner & vino, and enjoy the beautiful starlit sky.  I've never done this one before, and thx to Stan's suggestion we're going to check out a big sky full of stars.  I'll have my camera and tripod, so hopefully we'll have some interesting star shots for the photo album of this hike.  So if you're an aspiring photographer (or not), bring your equipment and join me shooting.  This should be fun.

No need for silver bullets for this one, since the werewolves will be slumbering, not hunting.

What To Bring:

VINO ~ A hike is not complete w/out vino, so let's start there.  Bring the bottle of your choice - something nice of course!   And don't forget the cups, like I did recently!  :-O

FOOD ~ Dinner and snacks.  Sky's the limit, just use your imagination.  Cheese and crackers, sandwiches, burritos, pasta, salads, hot soup, hot tea?  Just bring enough to share, as that's part of the fun.

Flashlight, or headlamp. Since there will be no moonlight we'll be dependent on battery power to get us up to our destination.

A Blanket. Katie brought one last time along w/ a tarp (to keep it clean) which worked out great - thx Katie!

A Star Map would be fantastic if anyone can bring one.   I expect there will be several star apps, but a map we can lay out would really be cool.

Warm clothes, and decent shoes for walking/hiking.

$5 admin fee for this hike - thx!

From Hwy 101 take Hwy 12 East and when it hits the street, keep going straight about 2 miles 'till it Tees at Summerfield Dr. Turn Right there and go 3 blocks and turn Left on Carissa, which you'll follow up the hill to the clearing and park there.

Heather - our end times really vary. The last one ended around midnight, while others were done by 10:00. It depends on the grp, though this hike is simple so if any one wants to leave before the grp, it's not a problem.

Hi, I would like to carpool with someone. Anyone from San Francisco or South San Francisco?

Herro. I live in the East Bay, next to the West, and wanted to carpool. Anyone? I can drive or be a passenger.

This will be my first trip with the group, looking forward to it. Just wondering what time you anticipate leaving afterwards?
