I've decided to extend this tasting to this grp as a courtesy since you guys have been showing up a lot lately. Typically this event is only open to my Vino grp.

So w/ this in mind - don't wait to sign up, as there is a limit to how many we can fit in the house and on the deck, and my guys usually fill the place.

~~~IT"S WINE TIME!!!~~~
The featured varietal for August is Merlot.
This will be a blind tasting of the stated varietal - No you don't have to be blind to participate - just wear cool sunglasses.
It works like this: We get together for hors d'oeuvres, vino, and fun before the tasting starts.
Then we'll start the actual tasting, and then have more food, vino, and fun!
There will be a social hour beginning at 6:45pm, then we'll start the tasting sometime thereafter.
Ea member brings a bottle of Merlot in the $15-$25 price range.
The bottles will be bagged and numbered and we'll have note sheets w/ categories for rating the wine. At the end of the night (or sometime) we'll determine which bottle wins ( this will be determined numerically) - pls no questions yet!
If this isn't clear I'm sure it's just because I'm a kindergarten dropout, and has nothing to do w/ the fact that you're just not grasping what I'm saying.
Just kidding. Well not about my education, or lack thereof. Ah, but I digress. Don't worry about the details, as they will sort themselves, after you've done this once you'll love it.
For August we'll be tasting Merlot - remember the required price range is $15-$25
What To Bring:
~A bottle of Merlot in the $15-$25 price range (this insures a relatively consistent tasting).
~Hors d'oeuvres - be creative (brie and sourdough is always popular - especially when the brie is hot - we can heat it for you), meats, hard cheeses w/ bread and/or crackers, soft cheeses, etc. At the last tasting we had a great assortment of food, snacks, and hot food (yes, you can use the oven). Thx guys!
~ If you can, PLEASE BRING EXTRA VINO for drinking before the tasting begins (red, white, purple, whatever). Purple???
Beyond that bring whatever you think we'll enjoy. There's no pressure to spend a ton of $$$ on this event, other than for the required wine and hors d'oeuvres - so just come enjoy yourself and have fun.
As always, PLEASE update your RSVP early if you think you won't make it, out of consideration to the host and grp - thx! Since this is held at a members home it's important to let us know if your plans change.
My top priority is for everyone to have fun and connect, and pls be patient if the tasting doesn't begin at a decent hour - remember we're here to have fun!
Optional, but really helpful:
~A main or side dish - again be creative.
~Extra vino you think we might enjoy during the social hour, prior to the tasting.
As always, your sense of humour is required!
In other words, don't take this too seriously - we're here for a good time!
