Stanford Dish Hike - 5.2 miles

This popular paved trail offers views of the surrounding hills, the city of Palo Alto, the Stanford campus, and a close-up view of the large Stanford satellite dish.

We will meet inside the "Stanford (Ave.) gate" at the corner of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Stanford Avenue in Palo Alto. We'll then walk to "Piers Gate" and back -- total distance of 5.2 miles round-trip. The walk will last a little less than 2 hours.

After the hike, we may meet at a small outdoor cafe at the Stanford Barn for coffee and a bite to eat if people are in the mood (will provide printed maps for those who aren't familiar).

Look for free parallel parking along Stanford Avenue. However, spots fill up quickly on weekend mornings, so a good alternative is the parking lot at Lucille Nixon Elementary School about 1/4 mile from the meeting place for the hike.

Will, thanks for organizing this. You are so welcoming to everyone. I have always wanted to take this hike. I went to the right on the first trail and had a marvelous, relaxing hike. It was super!! Nice people!
