PLEASE NOTE : The Bay Area Skeptics SkepTalk for November will be a special occasion – and a change of date and venue.

BAS has been invited to participate in the Exploratorium’s “After Dark” program for Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 6:00 – 10:00. The theme for the evening is a skeptical one: “Matters of Fact”.

From the Exploratorium website: “How can we know the truth? Do facts matter? What distinguishes justified belief from opinion, and why do our personal biases keep us from seeing the whole picture? Join us to learn more about the anchors of scrupulous science and diligent data, how they can be exploited, and tools to find the facts for yourself.”

BAS president Dr. Eugenie C Scott will be giving a presentation on “Why do people reject good science?”, and BAS will have tables demonstrating how to think about and analyze pseudoscientific claims. In addition, there are the usual hundreds of interactive Exploratorium exhibits for you to play with. It will be a fun-filled evening for adults (alcohol is available).

Tickets can be purchased at https://www.exploratorium.edu/visit/calendar/after-dark-november-7-2019 or at the door. Bring a friend!
