What we’re about

For anyone that wants to go out and hear live blues with a fun group of people in a wide range of venues across the Bay Area. Occasionally other music genres such as Rockabilly and New Orleans music will be posted.

Our events are combo of non-hosted and hosted events which is explained below:

Non-Hosted Events - Non-hosted events events can range from just FYIs to members about upcoming national touring headliner blues artists, special events (San Jose Jazz Festival for example) to weekly ongoing jams or gigs our Meetup members might be interested in that our meeting organizers can't attend all the time.

Meetup members can attend non-hosted events with other blues Meetup members and/or volunteer to be the main "meeter and greeter" for a non-hosted event.

Hosted Events - Meetup organizers will be there to meet and greet the Meetup members.  Generally a sign or a flag will placed on a table/tables to help identify our Meetup group.

Minimums for Hosted Meetups

At times there are minimums for a hosted Meetup and this information will be posted.

More about our Meetup Group - Tips

Seating at Venues

Depending on the size of venue, the draw of the band or artist playing that evening and when you arrive can make it challenging to save or find seating together. If you choose to arrive after the suggested time at meetup - meetup organizers can't always guarantee there will be enough tables for everyone. We hope you understand.

Notes about small venues or places that fill up quickly are always noted in the Meetup description for a good reason  --> seating *really* can run out/be limited (Little Lou's BBQ or the tables downstairs near the stage of Club Fox are good examples!)

Type of Blues Music

Everyone's tastes in blues music varies. To determine if an artist or group is someone you'd enjoy, visit related links such as YouTube (or Google the artist name) to get a sense of the music before you sign up or attend the particular Meetup.  This will help  you "find" the right Meetup to attend with our group.

Artists Choice of Music at Their Gigs

Please note the meeting organizers have no control over the music the group or artist plays at their gigs. If a blues group or blues artist at a Meetup chooses to throw some latin, jazz, funk, pop or instrumental tunes in the set they are playing that night -- that's the way it is! Live music - is just that --> it's live and subject to the moment.

Anyone that is a member can suggest a Meetup - feel free to do so and host a meeting yourself! This is a collaborative group effort!

There is NO CHARGE to belong to this Meetup. We always note cost/cover charge  of an event / venue when possible.

For example -- if there was a Meetup scheduled at a venue that is charging $5 cover on Friday night. You need pay the $5 to the venue when you arrive. The information on cost to get into the venue would be stated in the Meetup invite posted to the group.

There are also times when it is necessary for you to purchase a ticket for the event directly from the venue before the Meet-up (such as Yoshi's or SF Jazz Center). In those cases, information will be provided to you within the event announcement itself.

Blues bands who want to list gigs

Blues Bands are welcome to post gigs as Meetup events.

Meetup organizers will post your event in the DISCUSSIONS page under NON-HOSTED events with a link to your website.

We do ask that bands at least announce the Meetup at their gig and announce a welcome to the Meetup members so they can find each other/sit with each other to enjoy your show.

Any band or musician just posting gigs and not mentioning the Meetup at all or abusing the Meetup group in any way will be banned/their information removed from this group.

Thanks! We look forward to enjoying some great times and blues music with YOU!
