Around Thanksgiving time, the Desert is about the only place where sunshine is all but guaranteed. Now planning for another immersion in Mojave National Preserve and vicinities, which is already my traditional.
The trip is a week long, Desert Rat style car camping WITH campfires (which are permitted, bringing your own firewood: will carry a load of it). Approximate itinerary - subject to circumstantional adjustments: Afton Canyon - Cronese Lakes - lava flows near Kelbaker Road in Zzyzx Lake basin - Sheep Corral (S of Granite Pass). Planning to stay 2-3 nights in each place, making long day hikes into the wilderness.
If we have a group, my preference is that participants already know each other, at least by reference, to ensure psychological comfort. Anyone to join, RSVP on the waiting list and I will contact you. First-timers are encouraged to use remaining weekends to get acquainted.
Planning to take off not too early on Sat 23-rd from my house in San Jose and come back *late* on 30-th (it's ~8 hours long drive).
