“This is a group for anyone interested in learning more about service design as a practice and how using this method can have a sustainable social impact. We will discuss problem framing through a holistic lens, contextual interviewing techniques, systems design, human-centered design methods, creating new modes of community engagement, and equity-based transformation. All skill levels are welcome. I started this group to build a civic-minded design community. Looking forward to exploring possibilities with others."
Each meet up will have the same agenda:
15 min networking and settling in (wine and cheese potluck!)
15 min quick overview of service design as a practice and how this method is different from other design and business strategies.
60 min case study review borrowed from my portfolio, The Service Design Networks publication "Touchpoint" or speaker sharing a presentation.
30 min discussion and personal project review "90 seconds" - each member or team who wishes to develop their own project will have 90 seconds to share an update and receive feedback / support.
We will meet the first Monday of the month to discuss, present our work and plan for next steps. We partner with non profits who can’t afford consultants and apply service design methods. The result will be actionable concepts, new awareness and / or a plan to share with Tech for good groups in Spring.
