Learn About Snowcamping and the Sierra Club Snowcamping Training Series

Join the Sierra Club Bay Chapter Snowcamping Training Series for an Introduction to Snowcamping at the Sports Basement stores in San Francisco on December 6 or Berkeley on December 9. Both clinics run from 7 - 8:30 pm.  The clinic is free and, while an rsvp is always appreciated, you are always welcome to just show up.

We will offer an overview of winter wilderness camping with a focus on what to expect if you enroll in our annual training series, including the following topics.

-How to build on your summer backpacking experience

-What summer gear will or will not work in the winter

-Should you use skis or snowshoes? How fit do you need to be?

-How to stay warm.

-What to expect in camp and at night, tents, snowcaves, etc.

There will be plenty of time for Q&A. Unlike the REI clinics the Training Series is 100% responsible for the content of this event.

You can learn more about the training series and apply at snowcamping.org

For almost 50 years the training series has introduced thousands individuals, families and youth groups to the joy of snowcamping. We hope you will join to find out if winter camping might be for you.
