THIS 13 MILE LOOP, combining the Bear Creek and Oursan trails, will take us completely around Briones Reservoir. The route passes through a variety of terrain, from dense oak and bay forest near the reservoir's shore to open grassland high atop Sobrante Ridge. Along the way we will encounter grand vistas, an assortment of trees and shrubs.  Except for about 3 miles of the Bear Creek Trail, all of the walking is on well-graded dirt roads.


Start time: 10 A.M.

Distance: 13 Miles Elevation: 1500ft.

Difficulty: Strenuous due to Distance (for regular, conditioned hikers)

Hike Time: 5 Hours.

Parking Fee: None.

Guests: Yes, but make sure they are aware of the distance and physically up for the challenge.

WHAT TO BRING: Sturdy hiking boots/shoes, or trail runners, wind & sun protection, LUNCH, hat, 2 to 3 Litres of Water, daypack. Sunscreen, it's going to be upper 70's.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Fit hikers who can handle a 13 mile hike. You should have plenty of recent hiking experience. Pace will be averaging 3 m.p.h most likely.
