Biking in Southern Italy - September!

There's a lot of interest in a September trip, so here we go!

Come join the adventure in Italy - and bike along the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, passing through the olive & fig orchards, tomato fields and the whitewashed villages of Puglia, in Southern Italy.

Puglia (the 'heel' of the Italian boot) is this out-of-the-way corner that's somehow magical. Its sun-drenched seas & silvery olive orchards hint at its ancient past: of Turkish conquerors that sailed across the sea; of Ancient Greek fugitive monks who introduced olive oil; of Celts who mysteriously erected stone tables throughout the region. Their food is farm-fresh, the culture & music vibrant!

My friends in the region love when we come and stay - and have offered some of the most heartfelt, warm welcomes.

* We'll stay with farmers and family-run B&Bs.

* We'll dine with a local family.

* Have wine tastings

* Visit Baroque churches and Byzantine mosaics

* Learn to cook with an Italian mamma

* Relax by the beach

* And just have a great time!

If you like BIKING, love TRAVELING, want to see ITALY in a real way, and enjoy 9 days of excellent food & wines, come join us!

The Biking: Easy-Moderate. 30-45 miles every other day (with options to do 50-60 miles/day)

We'll ride Specialized Crosstrail hybrids.

Route follows the Adriatic cliffs east of Lecce; passes through miles ancient olive orchards; then heads inland toward rolling vineyards, dotted with whitewashed villages.

Dates: September 4th - 12th, 2011

The Damage: $2080. Includes 8 nights lodging in family-run Bed & Breakfasts, farm guesthouses and restored apartments; bicycles & equipment; luggage transport; a cooking class; guided tours, other fun activities; breakfasts & seven dinners/big hearty Italian lunches.

Sounds Good, More Info?! Trip is put together through
