The next meeting will be held on Saturday October 12th at the Round Table Pizza on 504 Center Avenue in Martinez. The meeting will start at 5:00 P.M. and last until around 9:00 P.M. Attending the meeting is free and I will also provide one or two free pizzas, depending on how many people are there and how fast the pizza is consumed. Some popular multiplayer games I’ll have at the Saturday October 12th meeting include Smash Bros 4 Ultimate, Street fighter 4 & 5, Mortal Kombat 11, Halo, Mario Kart, Tekken, Mario Party, Marvel Vs Capcom, King of Fighters, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter, Injustice, Killer Instinct, Gang Beats, Borderlands, Sonic Racing, and Power Stone. You don’t have to arrive exactly at five, it’s ok to be late, and you don’t have to stay for the full course of the meeting if you don’t want to. Just show up, play video games and have fun.
Contra Rogue Corps is the latest game in the long running run and gun shooter series. Most Contra games are 2D side scrollers, this one however is 3D with the camera in a overhead perspective. The camera angle change also affects the gameplay. Normal Contra has you moving toward the right while jumping around to avoid getting hit, here however you’ll enter a room filled with enemies and have to strafe around in circles until they are all dead, which is more reminiscent to Smash T.V. or Cannon Spike than classic Contra. Another change is that although your weapon still has infinite ammo, it will now overheat after ten seconds of continuous fire and then take six seconds to cool down and return to normal. However you can overcome this annoyance by switching to your secondary weapon when your primary overheats. You can also dash to avoid getting hit, but that was introduced in the debatable last game in the series Hard Corps Uprising. A single level demo is available now for all platforms so you can try out the game ahead of time if you want. Honestly I picked this game since it’s supposed to have four player local co-op, but people who attend the meeting can play other games, I just decided to feature this one.
Also Phillip is having a meeting for his Lurking for Lan group on September 28th at the Robert Livermore community center on 4444 East Avenue in Livermore. It goes for pretty much all day, 10 AM until 10 PM. It’s mostly about playing PC games, and you’re supposed to bring your own computer or laptop, but there will also be a bunch regular video games to play, that anyone who shows up can try out. I’ll have a similar setup as one of my normal meeting with Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 2, Dreamcast and the mini systems all hooked up. It should be a good time, so check it out if you are in the area.
The last thing I wanted to mention is that the meeting after this one will be on November 8th, but I’m not sure what the game will be yet, maybe Luigi’s Mansion 3.
Anyway I will be bringing at least 14 monitors to the next meeting, two Nintendo Switchs, two PlayStation 4s and one of each of the fallowing game systems: Xbox One, Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 1 Classic, original Xbox, Nintendo 64, Turbografx 16, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, Super Nintendo Classic, NES Classic, Genesis Flashback, Atari Jaguar, Neo Geo Mini, PlayStation Vita TV, and an OUYA. Also it’s ok to bring your own controllers, games, or systems if you want, but I think that I provide enough equipment that most people will be satisfied.
