Hey there.

In a couple of months, I'll be taking an overseas trip to Europe, which means I am currently looking into coordinating an English-speaking ghost tour of Helsinki primarily for the benefit of this year's Worldcon members. While I realize many of you are unlikely to partake in this particular meetup, the second leg of my journey will be taking me to London.

As some of you are aware, one of my dream investigations would be a historic site like Hampton Court Palace. For those who aren't familiar with this pivotal royal residence, Thomas Wolsey, the Archbishop of York (and essentially a prime minister) gave it to Henry VIII in an attempt to appease him. Wolsey had failed to persuade the Pope to give Henry an annulment from his first wife, Catalina of Aragon, in the early 16th century. Henry's third wife, Jane Seymour, died there about 10 days after the birth of Henry's longed-for son, Edward VI. Having her moment of triumph denied to her, there are stories of her figure seen wailing around the clock tower afterward. The best known ghost story is that of Henry's fifth wife, Katherine Howard. It is historically documented that Henry was informed of her infidelity at Hampton Court and when guards were sent to keep her in custody, she managed to break away from them and make a mad dash for the chapel, where she believed Henry to be. The guards caught her at the door and her screams were heard in the Gallery when she was dragged back to her rooms. Some of the Grace-and-Favor residents believed they were still hearing her screams in the 19th century. In October 2003, CCTV caught a door opening and closing at the same time for three days in a row. On the second day, a ghostly image was captured closing the door. Some groups have disputed it as a hoax, but my contact there said these are group who hadn't even been to the complex. The staff there investigated the image for two months and they were neither able to identify the figure nor determine why that door kept flying open. The film clip can be seen here:

Needless to say, there are many more stories about Hampton Court.

After my last visit there, I learned the Landmark Trust even offers overnight accommodation at this famous Tudor residence. I have been in touch with my contact and am planning to meet him in August. Hampton Court Palace is available for rental, but there's no telling how expensive it is. If I arrange this investigation, I understand it would take quite a bit of time and money for members to arrange, so it would be posted at least a year in advance. I also have psychic medium who is interested in accompanying us.

The question is, how many BAGH members are interested in such a destination investigation? If it is arranged, there will be a minimum and maximum of members who can join us. But we do need to cover at least the minimum.

If this is something you'd be interested in doing, please let me know. If there is sufficient interest, I will definitey pursue putting this destination meetup together.
