“SF Sketchfest Presents
Cinematic Titanic: “Danger on Tiki Island”
with Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein, Frank Conniff and Mary Jo Pehl from “Mystery Science Theater 3000”
Live In Person!
7:00pm $25
CINEMATIC TITANIC is the new feature-length movie riffing show from the creator and original cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Like MST3K, the show was created by Joel Hodgson and features the same team that first brought the Peabody award winning cult-classic series to life: Trace Beaulieu (Crow, Dr. Forrester), J. Elvis Weinstein (Tom Servo, Dr. Erhardt), Frank Conniff (TV's Frank), and Mary Jo Pehl (Pearl Forrester). Cinematic Titanic continues the tradition of riffing on 'the unfathomable', 'the horribly great', and the just plain 'cheesy' movies from the past.

About Danger on Tiki Island: An atomic bomb test in the South Pacific creates an isolated world of terror. Strange things are happening on this remote island in the Pacific, where a Peace Corps volunteer, a researcher and his love-starved lady arrive to find that nearby atomic testing has mutated some of the plants. It that weren't bad enough, a monster terrifies the villagers in its lust for blood. The man-beast must be stopped - but how? With sarongs a-plenty, this film was a staple at drive-ins in its day. Now experience it live with Cinematic Titanic. Tickets and information at www.sfsketchfest.com.”

Tickets may be purchased at the box office (the day of the show only) for $25, or online for $30. Doors and box office open at 6PM. I plan to arrive and buy my ticket at the theater at 6:20PM. I’ll send out my cell phone # beforehand and leave it on until 7PM.
Online tickets: http://www.ticketweb.... (http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=863435)

If you like, meet me for food or drink beforehand and/or afterwards at the Nirvana Restaurant & Bar, one block away.

In case there’s a lot of us, here’re the details…details… details (ugh):

Look for me. I’ll send out my cell phone # on Monday, February 1st to those who have signed up by Sunday, January 31st. I’ll be wearing my black derby hat. I’ll be taking my hat off and turning my cell phone off at 7PM and putting/turning them back on when the performance lets out.

Getting there:
BART: Exit at the Civic Center Station, then pay $2 and enter the MUNI turnstiles to go back downstairs and take an underground MUNI outbound K, L, M, or T train to the MUNI Castro Station. You’ll see the Castro Theater when you exit the Castro Station.
Going home, take any inbound train back to the Civic Center Station to transfer back to BART.
Muni is $2 (quarters) each ride and you’ll be at the theater about 15 minutes after getting off of BART.
If you’re coming from the East Bay, you’ll find it easier to get a seat on the way in if you transfer between BART and MUNI at the Embarcadero Station rather than the Civic Center Station.

DRIVING: Metered parking on the street or in the small parking lot near the theater is free after 6PM. Finding a spot can be challenging sometimes.
If you get frustrated, you can always find free parking on the other side of Market St., up the hill on States St.: http://maps.yahoo.com... (http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m&lat=[masked]&lon=[masked]&zoom=18&q1=200%20States%20St.%2C%20San%20Francisco%2C%20CA&q2=429%20Castro%20Street%2C%20San%20Francisco%2C%20CA&gid2=[masked])
States St. is 2 hour parking ‘till 9PM, but I’ve not gotten a ticket parking at 6PM on a weeknight. It’s about a 10-minute walk from there to the theater.

If you’re coming for food beforehand:
I plan to be at Nirvana’s from 5:30 to 6:15PM. This will also be happy hour. Look for me in the covered patio in the rear of the restaurant.
Nirvana is at 544 Castro St., one block from the theater: http://maps.yahoo.com... (http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m&lat=[masked]&lon=[masked]&zoom=18&q1=429%20Castro%20Street%2C%20San%20Francisco%2C%20CA&gid1=[masked]&q2=544%20Castro%20Street%2C%20San%20Francisco%2C%20CA&gid2=[masked])

The MST3K performance:
I will be in line if there is one, otherwise I will hang out where they take the tickets from 6:20-6:30PM, then go inside. I hope to get seats in the center section about 10 rows back. It will be more likely we can sit as a group, if you can get there early. If you arrive afterwards, come on in and look for us.

If you’re up for food afterwards:
After the movie, meet at the box office. I’ll hang there for about 5 minutes, then head on back to Nirvana. If you’re late getting down there, don’t worry, it should be ok. See above for directions to Nirvana.

See you at the show!
