Fremont Successful Thinkers Chapter

Special Speaker - Kerry Hargraves

Topic: Playing to Prosper; Improve Health, Happiness and the Bottom Line

Play is as essential to health and success as good nutrition, regular exercise and adequate sleep. Yet, as adults, many of us don’t play. We may not have the time or the motivation or we’ve lost access to our playful selves.

In this presentation Kerry will talk about:

  • The function of play, why it’s important
  • Why we stop playing
  • The benefits of bringing play back into your homes, businesses and lives
  • The competitive advantages of incorporating play into your business
  • How to find the time to play; get more done in less time and enjoy yourself more
  • Tips on how to discover what play is for you (it’s different for everyone)
  • An easy way improve or protect your heart health without having to change your diet, join a gym or lose weight

The presentation is designed to be informative, fun and to invite the participants to play a little while they learn.

Kerry has more than 25 years of experience in the corporate world, she has directed manufacturing operations, both large and small, in industries from medical devices to software.

She has been studying productivity, management and employee relations for over 30 years. Something that she’s observed in all jobs, companies and industries – the best work, the highest quality products and services, the most satisfied customers and the most profitable operations are most likely to flourish when the company environment is positive and the staff, from CEO to janitor, are happy, appreciated and engaged. A condition that is all too rare.

As you can see in this picture with Abe Lincoln, I do Civil War Reinacting. One does everything by the time period. I you like camping you can do this. The beer and spirits fly after the public leaves. Up at Roaring Camp the Reinators get a free train ride through the woods in appreciation for the work we do. Then on Sunday evening we have a period dance and this year a raffle. Not all play though. I am there for 6 days. The first 3 days I give classes to young adults about the Union Navy's part in the Civil War. I give 12, 20 minute classes in those 3 days. I lose my voice and I still have 3 more days yet. By the way. I do not tent. I am a sailor. I stay aboard the USS Hotel
This event is during Memorial Day weekend up at Roaring Camp, in Felton

Great topic to remind all of us to balance life and to keep good physical, mental, emotional health for all the reminder of life's challenges to be handled. PBS speaker John Bradshaw used to call it "being in touch with our inner child" ..... Almost all of us remember our childhood as a relatively happier time and wonder what happens to all of us as we grow ! Well LIFE happens ... meaning not everything is always happy, joyous experience....when pain, suffering, loss, changes occur, we not only need to know that it's a required part of life, but we need to sail through and handle/manage it as adults.... with our own individual inner strengths and self-knowledge, sometimes support from friends and family and YES, even fun meetup groups like STN-Fremont !!

Play and ability to authentically able to laugh with others certainly helps to keep it all in perspective.

Looking forward to Kerry's play at work in our meetup !

I have been attending our Monday Fremont Successful Thinkers Meetup since the new year and am delighted to say, I am pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is near spectacular ... the choice of food is amazing (how many times do I have do dine before tasting all the items ONCE ? ) !! The service is courteous ... did any of you talk to Johnny or Michele or Amy ?? And the price is very affordable and FAIR...... .......actually, a great bargain for family and groups. We love their private and professional conference room with all amenities.

Other reviews are okay.....there will be one or two with extreme experiences.....they may not know how good they have it at World Gourmet Buffet unless they try other places in other cities and finally crave for WGB's menu and ambiance

I ENCOURAGE ALL OF US WHO LIKED THEIR FOOD TO REVIEW AND POST A COMMENT ... THANKS.

Thanks Kerry for speaking to our Fremont Chapter. I have my minim bubble bottle with me which I randomly use "wherever". Waiting for my son's arrival in Manila next week and yes...we will take the time off to play!! Been assisting my Mom caregiving and asset issues since I arrived and a time off is much awaited. It is a topic well needed by a lot this time.
