Join us for another Oakland Mapping Party

We will be hosting another Oakland Mapping party at the Rock, Paper, Scissors Collective space. Mike Migurski from Stamen Design will be leading his paper mapping (walking-papers.org) project again, showing attendees how to map using geo-referenced paper maps. This is a really exciting, low tech way to get out mapping. As usual, we will have GPS units available to borrow throughout the weekend.

This event is Saturday and Sunday, June 27th and 28th, from 12:30pm to 5:30pm.

The Bay Area map is really starting to look good, and it could be argued that it is one of the best OSM maps in the US. Lets keep the momentum going. We are seeing more and more participants in our mapping community, so join us in meeting fellow mappers!

Also check out this great Oakland crime map (Mike works on this as well), that is based off of OSM data: http://oakland.crimes...

This event will be a great time to discuss your favorite mapping ideas, experiences and wishes.

This was really useful and I learned a lot. Nice turnout of interesting people.

The weather was fantastic this past weekend, and this event gave me an opportunity to share with other mapping enthusiasts and to ride around Oakland and Alameda, all while collecting data for Open Street Map, the online open source map of the world.
