• Meet Seweu & Share Your Sewing Projects!

    Online event

Meet the talented Seweu (@seweu on IG) who made this amazing Black Panther warrior uniform. She says more than "20 hours and 700 feet of reflective Vibranium laces went into painstakingly creating" this outfit. Seweu describes herself "a multifacted maker and student of life who loves creating all things beautiful and unique." She's also a member of @blkmakersmatter on Instagram. Seweu will describe the process of making her warrior costume at the begining of this meetup. Then we'll break into two or three small groups and share your sewing projects (costumes or other garments) – just in time for Halloween! Feel free to have more than one ensemble to share as we will break into different small groups twice. The second group may have some of the same members in it so if you don't want to share the same thing twice, bring more than one ensemble to share. :) This is a virtual meetup. We'll have Zoom randomly assign members into the small groups. If you haven't downloaded Zoom, please download it before the meetup. https://zoom.us/ All who RSVP will be able to see the Zoom link.

  • Choosing the Right Fabric with Beth Galvin + Hello Stitch Tour

Learn about choosing the right fabric for your pattern with Beth Galvin, garment sewing instructor at Hello Stitch and sewing blogger. Beth will show examples of fabric selections for different patterns, explain why they work as well as what fabrics would not work and why. We'll have time for Q&A at the end, so if you have questions about fabric selections for a garment you want to make, have your patterns ready to show. We will also get a virtual tour of Hello Stitch in Berkeley with Stacey, one of the owners of the studio, who will also give us an update on what Hello Stitch has been doing since the pandemic began.
