IMPORTANT: Ticket sales have ended. The Bay Area Sewists annual Frocktails in February event will take place on Sat., Feb. 23, 4 pm to 6 pm. Wear a dress (frock) or ensemble you made and have a cocktail! Meet other Bay Area Sewists members and show off your ensemble! We'll have a private space upstairs at Tupper & Reed, a lovely bar located in a building designed in 1925. We'll be serving a variety of hors-d'oeuvres (crudités, hummus, vegan spring rolls, and dessert). We'll also have some great raffle prizes to give away, starting at 5:30 pm: • $50 gift certificate from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco | https://www.britexfabrics.com/ • $50 gift certificate from The Sewing Room in Alameda | http://www.thesewingroomalameda.com/ • $75 voucher towards labels from Dutch Label Shop in Pennsylvania | https://www.dutchlabelshop.com/en_us • $30 gift certificate from Stonemountain & Daughter Fabrics in Berkeley | http://www.stonemountainfabric.com/ • Bag-making kit from Hello Stitch in Berkeley | https://www.hellostitchstudio.com/ • 3 rolls of Swedish tracing paper from Birch Street Clothing in San Francisco | https://shop.birchstreetclothing.com/index.php Thank you to all our generous sponsors for the wonderful giveaways! IMPORTANT: Tickets are nonrefundable and are on sale on Eventbrite. See FAQs for more info. Once you buy your ticket on Eventbrite, I will manually add your RSVP to the meetup page. Early Bird member tickets are SOLD OUT $35 (+Eventbrite fee). RSVPs on this Meetup page include volunteer tickets. NOTE: The RSVPs are being added manually. The fee covers the cost of the bartender's time and the catering. There will be a no-host bar, which means you need to pay for your drinks. Note to our male members and those who don't typically wear dresses: A dress is not required; the idea is to wear something you made. See you there! FAQs Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? You must be 21 years of age or older because alcohol will be served. What should I wear? Wear something you made or something that makes you feel good. It's a cocktail affair. Can I bring a guest? You are welcome to purchase up to two more tickets for guests. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? There is street parking and parking garages in the area. Allow plenty of time to find a spot. Or park in a garage: http://www.bestparking.com/berkeley-parking/. Tupper & Reed (http://www.tupperandreed.com/) is located a 5-minute walk (2.5 blocks south) from the Downtown Berkeley BART stop. What's the refund policy? Tickets are nonrefundable. Unfortunately, we can't offer refunds because we have to meet the costs of holding this event. Thank you for your understanding. • Pattern Swap and Chat!

Lacis Museum of Lace and Textiles

It's time for another pattern swap! We only do pattern swaps once or twice a year so it's a great opportunity to pass along patterns, find something new and meet other sewists. After the pattern swap is done, we'll break up into two groups and discuss our favorite patterns and the patterns we got at the swap. Bring one (or more) of your favorite patterns to show the group - and maybe even wear the garment(s) you made from the pattern. If you bring at least three patterns, you can participate in the first three rounds of the swap. The fourth round is for everyone to take as much as you want. If you bring fewer than three patterns, then you can participate in the number of rounds equal to the number of patterns you brought. For example, if you brought two patterns, you can participate in the first two rounds of the swap. It's totally fine if you don't bring a pattern, you can just want until the first three rounds are done, and participate in the last round. Leftover patterns will be donated to the Stonemountain & Daughter Fabrics free bin or East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse in Oakland. ***It's fine if the pattern pieces are cut - just be sure no pattern pieces or instructions are missing. *** IMPORTANT: Please sort your patterns into the following categories: accessories, dresses, skirts, pants, jackets/suits, coats, lingerie, sleepwear, menswear, children's, crafts, vintage, miscellaneous. When you arrive, just put your patterns on the tables, which are labeled with the various categories. While you're at Lacis, be sure to check out the retail store (http://www.lacis.com/retail.html) where you'll find all kinds of lace, ribbons, embroidery and tapestry supplies, dozens of hand sewing needles, thimbles, millinery supplies, corset-making supplies, vintage patterns, and much more. They are also a museum with exhibits on display: http://lacismuseum.org/ NOTE: There is a fee of $5 per person to reserve your space and to compensate Lacis for the use of their space. We need to collect this fee in advance. The fee is nonrefundable because we need to ensure that we cover our room rental fee. Parking: There is metered street parking but it is limited. On the weekend, there's a flea market happening all day at the Ashby BART parking lot so you likely won't find a spot there. You might be able to find parking on a residential side street but be sure to check the parking signs for time limits. You might consider parking at either MacArthur BART or even North Berkeley BART and then taking BART to the Ashby stop and walking to Lacis. It's less than one block from the Ashby stop. On our Berkeley meetup days, ALL Bay Area Sewist members get a 20% discount at Stonemountain & Daughter Fabrics (http://www.stonemountainfabric.com/)! So stop by their great store (2518 Shattuck Ave.) before or after the meetup and at check out, let the staff know you are a Bay Area Sewist member.
