Morning Bike Ride @ John Chesnut Park & the Trail, (Changed to SUNDAY)

  • This location is shown only to members

  • #278

(Please read this entire page top to bottom)

    Ready-To-Go-Time is 10:00-am, we'll leave promptly at 10:15-am.

    Total time is about 2-hours.

Join us for another Fun Ride and a really good workout at John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor.

Photos from the July 9th ride -[masked]

For this ride you'll have two options for distances of 12 or 16-miles.

After cruising around the Park and climbing up on the Observation Tower we'll head North on the Eastlake Road trail up to Keystone Rd/Tarpon Lake Road.

From there we'll head back South on the Eastlake Trail,  Stopping at the 7-11 Store for a short break, then we'll take a ramble through the Lansbrook neighborhood for the 16-mile route,...or you can continue South on the Eastlake trail back to the park.

I've had the pleasure of organizing casual Bike rides on Meetup since 2007. My events are always about People-1st,  Exploring and Adventure-2nd,  and Cycling is-3rd.  (So if you're serious about cycling and you care about how fast or how far you ride,..........please go ride with a "Cycling" group. These rides are for fun)

Before we start we'll introduce the riders and make sure everyone feels included in the group, especially 1st timers. That's why we always want everyone to meet at the designated start location.

Our average pace is 10 to 12-mph and we don't ride in a tight pack like the Spandex speed bunnies.

Please make sure you and your bike are ready to go the distance in our typical Florida weather without any issues.

IMPORTANT - You need to pump up your tires at least once a week or they'll be low and you'll have to work a lot harder. A properly inflated tire should feel like hard plastic, not rubber.

(You can get a really good tire pump with a built in gauge at Walmart for $18 to $25. The "Zefal" brand pumps are the best. Mine has lasted over 4-years)

Please make sure you and your bike are ready to go before you arrive. That way you can focus on the fun instead of "what's wrong with my bike?" If you haven't ridden in a while it's a good idea to take a spin the day before so you'll know if your bike is set up properly.

    1. - A water bottle -MANDATORY

2.- Your Bike, (with tires pumped up, everything adjusted, and no issues)

    - A Bike Helmet (optional but highly recommended)
    - A Small towel, Bug Spray
    - A Camera and/or Cell Phone
    - Money & ID, Sunglasses, Sunscreen

    - A Protein/Energy Bar, or Fruit (Apples or Bananas are the best)

    - A sense of humor

    - A tolerance for really corny jokes

    Ready-To-Go-Time is 10:00-am, we'll leave promptly at 10:15-am.

    More info to come!

It's a good thing I changed the day to Sunday. Weather tomorrow at 10-am will be 67-degrees, partly Sunny, warming up to the mid-70's. Today at 10-am it was only 54-degrees.

FYI,... we're finding out that some people are "No-Showing" because that are not clicking on the 3rd button to cancel they're Rsvp......

When you say YES to any event you only have to click on 2-buttons to be added, Also when you start out as a NO to any event you only click on 2-buttons......

But when you change a YES to a NO you have to click on 3-buttons to be removed. If you have all of your E-mail notifications turned off you won't know you were still a YES until I send you an E-mail after the event......

Please try to complete all of your Rsvp cancellations because some others are missing out because of this little problem......

Please don't wait till the last minute to update your Rsvp if needed. We have several people waiting and most people make their Saturday plans the day before. For the Bike rides we keep track of every Rsvp & No-show.
