- "All About a Fold" Edition Scala DrinkUp!
The venerable Gabriel Claramunt will be arriving in Silicon Valley to present at Scala Bay (RSVP here: All About a Fold (https://goo.gl/Hvmb7b)). So, why not have a Scala DrinkUp in honor of the occasion? The format is pretty much the same: great drinks, food, and of course plenty of Scala discussion, war-stories, rants, etc. Fibbar MaGees is just a short drive from the Scala Bay MeetUp, so given the 8:30 start-time: the plan is for us to collectively migrate from Gabriel Claramunt's talk to the DrinkUp that immediately follows. At this time, traffic and parking shouldn't be too difficult. Carpooling and mass-transit options are available (the DrinkUp location is next to the Sunnyvale CalTrain station). See all of you there!
- We're Back! Pre-Autumn Scala DrinkUp!
So far 2017 has been a quiet year for the South Bay Scala DrinkUp .. no longer! We will be closing out the summer season over great food, drinks and of course sharing stories of our latest Scala adventures! We will be meeting at the outside seating area (or inside one of the buildings) of San Pedro Square Market in Downtown San Jose. Accessibility via mass-transit and bicycle is good. For those driving: there are multiple parking garages nearby. Here is where to find us: https://goo.gl/maps/pIyzg See everyone there!
- Scala DrinkUp - Co-Scheduled with Scala Bay!
Like last time: we have another special edition of the South Bay Scala DrinkUp that will take place towards the end of the Scala Bay meetup. This time Adam Warski will be in town, and he is presenting at the meetup (https://www.meetup.com/Scala-Bay/events/232762394/). The drink-up will start at about 8:45 PM (basically a soft-starting time to allow folks to make the short drive from the meetup to Stein's Beer Garden in the neighboring City of Mountain View). As usual, this DrinkUp will be about gathering to talk about Scala and functional programming over good food and drinks. Given this DrinkUp will start a bit later, parking is likely to be less problematic. Carpooling may be coordinated from the meetup but even if you aren't able to attend the meetup, feel free to join us at the DrinkUp (and visa versa).

- Scala DrinkUp: Groundhog Day Edition
Let's gather for our very first Scala DrinkUp for 2016! As this will be our Groundhog Day Edition of the Scala Drinkup, we mix in some discussion about Punxsutawney Phil along with our usual banter about Scala and Functional Programming. As we ring in the new year, we'll be meeting at O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub for the first time as apart of our official DrinkUp. This location is conveniently located at San Pedro Square in Downtown San Jose: which has quick access to mass transit options (most notably Light Rail) as well as a large parking garage just down the street. See you there!

- Pre-Autumn Scala DrinkUp
With summer drawing to a close, and the fall-season rapidly approaching: It's time for another Scala DrinkUp! Long-time attendees know the drill. But for new-comers: the South Bay Scala DrinkUp is a fun and casual event where folks apart of or interested in joining the growing community of Scala and functional programming enthusiasts, meet for dinner/drinks. Topics of discussion have been known to range from Scala war-stories to philosophical discourse (that can get rather interesting as we approach "The Ballmer Peak"). Arrive early, to allow time for parking, or better yet: bike or take mass-transit. The light-rail runs directly in-front of and the next street over from The Original Gravity Public House. See you there!

With Scala Days (in SF) fast-approaching: let's gather for a Pre-Scala Days South Bay Scala DrinkUp in Downtown San Jose at San Pedro Square! If you enter the address in any of the popular mapping services, that should lead you right to where we will be: which is the outdoor seating area behind the cluster of San Pedro Square pubs, near the intersection of N San Pedro Square and St John Street. Here there are a variety of food and drink options from the surrounding establishments. And if you are arriving by car: allow extra time to park, and do carpool if feasible.
