About the Sufi Poetry Workshop
This will be a morning and afternoon session, led by Jeanne Rana. Poetry is the language of all the different kinds of love. In this workshop we will read and discuss some of the world’s great love poems: poems by the famous Sufi poets, Rumi, Hafiz and Bullhe Shah, and also some of the most moving love lyrics of the West. And then we will write some love poems of our own.

The morning session, 10:30 am – 1:30 pm, will consist of reading and discussing love poems. Bring your favorite love poem to share. The afternoon session, 2:30 – 5:30 pm will involve writing our own love poems, using various forms including the rhythmic pantoum, the elegant dekaaz and perhaps even the mystic ghazal.

Evening Session Intro
I follow the religion of love: whatever way love's
camels take, that is my religion and my faith. — Ibn ’Arabi

The Art of Loving sessions are a place for you to find your own understanding of and approach to loving. Loving yourself, loving others, loving "the one," loving the One ... we'll travel through them all. In this session we will explore Love Types and Archetypes through lovers and love stories from around the world. Bring stories to share and tell, our conversation will be open to your insights and opinions.

We'll open the doors at 6:40 pm, start the session at 7:00 pm. At about 8:30 pm we'll take a break and then close with zikr, a Sufi musical meditation. Those who want to follow-up personally with Murshid Kiran and Jeanne Rana can arrange times to do so.
